How it works

Everyone gets eight cards. One bid each, in turn — call what your team can take, or pass.
Whoever gets the bid names trump. Play your tricks. Catch the 5♥; steer the 3♠ somewhere else.
First team to 52 wins. And then you will want to play one more.

How ranking works

Glicko-2, a modern rating system (the family used by chess sites and pro esports). Everyone starts at 1,200; each game your team is measured against the opposing pair's strength, so beating stronger opponents moves you more.
New players are provisional. Your rating carries high uncertainty at first, settles quickly, and stops showing "provisional" once it's confident.
Only real games among four humans count. Practice and any game a bot fills are unrated — they never touch your rating. Winning margin never matters.
If a teammate leaves, you're protected. A bot finishes their seat, and the three players who stayed are still rated on the real result — but if your partner bailed and your team then loses, the loss costs you no rating. Win anyway and you're rewarded in full.
Leaving forfeits. The player who quits takes the loss and a fair-play mark. (Bail in the very first hand and the whole game is voided for everyone — a "remake.")

A game runs first to 52 — usually 6–12 hands, about 20–40 minutes. Per-turn timers (a reminder at 30s, then a 15-second countdown) keep it moving so no one waits forever.
